Developemental Pediatrician Evaluation

Emmalee had an appointment and was evaluated by a Developmental Pediatrician. On top of speech therapy and feeding team therapy, Emmalee will need physical therapy. She will be fitted for AFO’s (Ankle Orthotics) to help with her low muscle tone. Her right foot is pigeon toed and she does fall a lot. her feet pronate significantly. She has low muscle tone in general so the physical therapy will help. The low muscle tone could also be contributing to her bowel motility. We see a GI specialist on Monday for further direction and guidance. She will start Speech therapy in the coming weeks. The Dr. was awesome. We really love her. She was attentive and helpful in determining the next steps ahead for Emmalee. Just when I thought I was crazy and wanted to just let Emmalee develop at her own pace and not worry something just “isn’t quite right” with her. The Dr. looked at me and said “Emmalee is globally delayed, we are here to help.” We talked for 90 minutes about Emmalee’s birth, the last two years with her health issues and our current concerns. I am so grateful for our support system in place. We are in good and capable hands. There was so much more to this appt and so many “aha” moments that helped me realize that Emmalee needs more help than we are able to provide. Excited to see her rise from this fog and shine!

Dietician Appt.

Another day, another appointment. Today Emmalee was seen by a dietician:) She was very helpful in brainstorming ways to help Emmalee grow and thrive. Emmalee struggles with chronic constipation. She also struggles with textures, consistencies and flavors. We made some dietary goals to help her. All in all it was a good visit. In the coming weeks, Emmalee will hopefully start Early intervention therapy through the county. She will see a developmental specialist and get on the schedule for Speech, Occupational and feeding therapy up at the Providence Children’s developmental institute, get an MRI and get genetic testing completed at Randall’s and OHSU. It’s all putting us one step closer to helping Emmalee get the help she needs and we are so grateful for all the love, support and resources we have been given.

Easter Festivities

Easter Fun w/friends today decorating eggs, frosting & eating cookies w/'extra' sprinkles, holding our adorably cute "real" bunny, and enjoying the warm & sunny day playing outside & visiting our local Bethany Village shopping center for a walk-by Easter-basket treat event (CoVid-Style... with was certainly better then the one they just plain cancelled last year!

Miller Family Easter Party was a blast. We spent most of our time outside. I didn’t get any pictures of our spiral ham dinner with all the fixings and Alicia’s delicious Lemon Buttercream Cake but the entire night was so fun!
