Girl's Night IN

Girl’s Night IN! Patrick took Anderson and his Buddy to dinner and movie. The girls and I ordered Red Robin, Crumbl cookies and are snuggled up on the couch with popcorn watching Zootopia:)

Myotonic Dystophy

Emmalee got her Myotonic Dystrophy Mascot Stuffed Animal. It was made especially for her. Emmalee is a carrier of this specific type of Muscular Dystrophy. Characteristic features include weak muscle tone (hypotonia), an inward- and or upward-turning foot, breathing problems, delayed development, and intellectual disability. I am so grateful for the CMD support groups and have felt so much love and kindness from them. Thank you Lisa for all the love and this adorable snuggle buddy.

Feeding Therapy

I’m going to give a shout out to Michelle Walls (Emmalee’s Speech Feeding therapist at Randall’s.) It has been a long 20 weeks and Emmalee is making slow but steady progress. Tonight’s dinner took some serious brainstorming and planning but guess what?!? Emmalee sat up to the table with the family for dinner and ate the food that was prepared without fussing, spitting out food, saying “no” or getting down from her seat. I didn’t have to substitute anything!!! She ate Brussel sprouts, lasagna noodles and French bread. She didn’t just nibble, she actually ATE enough to be considered a full meal! So proud of her progress and perseverance! We transitioned her from a high chair seat to this adjustable chair tonight. (Thanks To my sister Heather for hanging on to this chair that was recommended by our therapist.) A combination of planning out the approach and presentation of the noodles, brussel sprouts and her sensory aversions and preferences made all the difference. Emmalee, you are a rockstar. We are so proud of you!
