One year ago TODAY Emmalee required an ultrasound to diagnose her with a severe intussusception that had to be corrected with surgery. Emmalee’s well child check today brought back the painful memories of that experience. A few red flags were raised today requiring another ultrasound, a full blood panel (and some other tests added on) as well as a referral to see a neurologist for some imaging of her brain. It appears as though Emmalee has “cerebral atrophy” and the cause is unknown at this time. She has also not gained weight or height in a few months and has fallen off her curve. She has considerably noticeable jaundice which is also unexplained. We have been referred to a speech therapist as well. Our sweet little precious baby girl has proven time and time again that she is a miracle. Our wonderful Rainbow Baby!
We are so incredibly blessed.
Just spent a few hours at the hospital with Emmalee. They did an X-ray of her abdomen and checked her bowel and intestinal function. The X-ray showed A LOT OF POOP! And not just poop, severely dehydrated poop. She is full and unfortunately her intestines are not functioning properly or at a proper capacity to keep things hydrated and moving. She isn’t absorbing nutrients like she should. Despite our best efforts to keep her hydrated and fill her with nutrient rich foods. We are starting her on a medication to help “wake up her insides.” I will spare you all the dirty details
